Alex Riley-Craig, 18, is a Sports Coaching and Development student on our education programme with Sandwell College and has decided to organise an event called ‘Cricket for Cancer’ to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK.

Alex said, ‘Cricket for Cancer is a day where we celebrate those people who have survived cancer but also remember those we have sadly lost. In the process we raise money to help beat cancer and help get the machinery and medication needed. This day is a family filled and one to truly remember.’

Back in 2020,  Alex decided to do a cancer research fundraiser at his local cricket club, as a result of losing both his Auntie and Uncle to cancer in quick succession. ‘We raised over £1500 and this was a phenomenal experience. This time around I want to go bigger and better than before’.

The event will take place at Brewood Cricket Club on Monday 27th May at 10am, with 3 cricket matches taking place as well as a family fun zone for all ages to enjoy the day and live music. Tickets are available on the day and are £2 each with group discounts. All funds raised will go directly to Cancer Research UK.
