On Friday, August 20, the Warwickshire Cricket Foundation welcomed 13 Cricket Collective winners to Edgbaston to receive their awards from Gavin Larsen, Warwickshire County Cricket Club’s Performance Director.

The Cricket Collective Awards celebrate volunteers who go above and beyond to help make cricket happen. Without these individuals, cricket would not function as it does at these clubs.

The Unsung Hero Award is given to an individual who impacts the game from behind-the-scenes and helps make cricket happen.

Phil Mann of Bablake Cricket Club received the award last week for his commitment to his role as club secretary, club captain and creating an inclusive club environment.

Phil has played a huge role in coaching the cricket teams at Bablake, which are extremely inclusive and provide opportunities for young people with various disabilities and disadvantages.

Phil has continued to fulfil his roles at Bablake despite facing serious health issues over the winter season. He has made sure that no team goes short of a player.

Oliver Eames, Bablake Cricketer, said “He is a massive unsung hero at our club as a lot of our players don’t realise how much work he puts in behind the scenes, daily.”

“I would find it very hard to believe that there is a more deserving winner of this award, as without Phil there would be no Bablake CC at all. He contributes massively to all 3 of our sections at the club and always puts everyone else first.”

Congratulations to Phil for all of his efforts at Bablake Cricket Club.
