On Friday, September 20, the Warwickshire Cricket Foundation welcomed 13 Cricket Collective winners to Edgbaston to receive their awards from Gavin Larsen, Warwickshire County Cricket Club’s Performance Director.
The Cricket Collective Awards celebrate volunteers who go above and beyond to help make cricket happen. Without these individuals, cricket would not function as it does at these clubs.
The Metro Bank Champion of Girls Cricket Award is given to a volunteer, coach or role model who has championed growing girls’ cricket at their club.
Craig Busst has been instrumental in the evolution, development, and growth of the Walmley Ladies section at Walmley Cricket Club for several years.
Without Craig, there would be no women’s cricket. Their return to the women’s leagues in 2023 resulted in them securing the league title.
He has played a key role in the growth of the club, fostering team spirit, and introducing girls to cricket at Walmley. Thanks to his efforts, the girls’ section has grown from nothing to become a highly successful part of the club.
Gabby Basketter, Women and Girls’ Club Development Officer, said “Walmley have faced a restructure over the past few years, but Craig has remained loyal to the club and has dedicated himself to the girls’ and now women’s section. Through Craig’s hard work, Walmley has successfully reestablished a women’s and girls’ setup.”
Congratulations to Craig for receiving the award for his commitment and dedication to women’s and girls’ cricket.
