On Friday, September 20, the Warwickshire Cricket Foundation welcomed 13 Cricket Collective winners to Edgbaston to receive their awards from Gavin Larsen, Warwickshire County Cricket Club’s Performance Director.
The Cricket Collective Awards celebrate volunteers who go above and beyond to help make cricket happen. Without these individuals, cricket would not function as it does at these clubs.
The Young Coach of the Year award recognises a young individual who shares their passion for the game and motivates the next generation of players aged 16 to 25.
Anusha Chauhan from Handsworth Cricket Club has done this over the past year to inspire the next generation of cricketers at the club.
Handsworth Cricket Club aimed to expand its women’s and girls’ section and shared this goal with Anusha, who was the only female cricketer at the club at that time.
Anusha took responsibility into her own hands, became a qualified coach, and began organizing sessions through social media to engage the local community and attract new players.
She is an outstanding leader and an inspiring role model for women and girls and has demonstrated a real passion for the game and has spread it to the girls and women who now regularly attend at Handsworth.
Congratulations to Anusha for her dedication to establishing a women’s and girls’ section at Handsworth Cricket Club.
