On Friday, September 20, the Warwickshire Cricket Foundation welcomed 13 Cricket Collective winners to Edgbaston to receive their awards from Gavin Larsen, Warwickshire County Cricket Club’s Performance Director.
The Cricket Collective Awards celebrate volunteers who go above and beyond to help make cricket happen. Without these individuals, cricket would not function as it does at these clubs.
The Grounds Management Team of the Year award recognises volunteers who improve the places where the game is played.
Geoff Edmunds of Kenilworth Cricket Club proudly received an award recognising his exceptional commitment over the years.
This is not the first time Geoff and Kenilworth CC have received recognition at Warwickshire Cricket Foundation award events, which reflects the exceptional work they do there.
Thanks to Geoff, Kenilworth has always had an immediate aesthetic appeal. The wickets are consistently good, and the outfield is well-cut, often with pronounced stripes.
Geoff is involved in all aspects of the club, not just maintaining the ground’s features and order. He consistently seeks to learn and improve, providing the best surfaces possible.
Warwickshire Cricket Foundation is currently relaunching the Grounds Association in Warwickshire. The county has two qualified ECB Pitch Advisors available to assist clubs in developing and improving playing surfaces.
Sam Wyles, Workforce Development Manager, said: “At the beginning of this season, Kenilworth completed fixtures on both weekends when nearly everyone else in the county was rained out. This achievement required significant hard work and skill to ensure the games took place.”
“Geoff has consistently worked at Kenilworth to improve pitch facilities for several years.”
Congratulations to Geoff for his outstanding work at Kenilworth Cricket Club.
