On Friday 28 February we hosted our first Women’s and Girl’s Celebration Evening with over 130 attendees from a mix of clubs, the community, and Warwickshire County Cricket Club and Warwickshire Cricket Foundation staff.

This event, the first of its kind organised by the Warwickshire Cricket Foundation, celebrated the incredible stories within women’s and girls’ recreational and community cricket.

This is the first event of its kind held by Warwickshire Cricket Foundation and the evening celebrated the amazing stories in the women’s and girl’s recreational and community cricket game.

The evening was hosted by Paige Eagle, Bears Women Marketing Officer, who has previously hosted Birmingham Phoenix games.

It began with a welcome address from Cath Muth, Chair of the Warwickshire Cricket Foundation, who welcomed guests and highlighted some of the great work the Foundation is doing on a daily basis.

Gabby Basketter, Women’s and Girls’ Club Development Officer, then kicked off the celebrations by presenting the first three awards. You can find all the award winners from the night listed below.

Guests enjoyed a heads and tails game, a two-course buffet, and a raffle following dinner. The remaining awards were presented around the meal service.

We successfully raised over £390 through the raffle, which will go directly towards funding equipment, coaching, and facilities for women’s and girls’ activities run by the Foundation. For those who won raffle prizes, please remember to claim yours by May 6.

Before concluding the evening, attendees participated in a question-and-answer panel featuring Shruti Saujani (Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Senior Lead, FA Education), Gemma Barton (Head of Enabling and Inspiring Women’s and Girls’ Participation, ECB), and Hannah Hardwick (Player, Bears Women). They emphasised the importance of recreational and community cricket in their respective roles.
