Last week, Bordesley Green Girls’ School hosted our Glow in the Dark Cricket festival as part of the Cricket Cities programme.

Six schools participated in a round-robin style tournament, offering plenty of opportunities for everyone to play.

Glow in the Dark Cricket is delivered as part of our Cricket Cities programme, which targets urban communities across Warwickshire and Birmingham, using cricket to increase participation and support physical and mental wellbeing.

This fast-paced version of the game is played in the dark, using UV-reactive equipment and clothing to create an exciting glowing effect. Each school received bibs, sweatbands, and face paint in different fluorescent colours, while the stumps, balls, and bats were taped to enhance the glow.

All participating schools had taken part in a half-term of cricket coaching leading up to the tournament, which was held as a reward for the girls involved.

Most recently, we also delivered Glow in the Dark Cricket to our 2025 Cricket Collective Inspired to Play winners, Coventry Girls Cricket Club, giving players the opportunity to experience cricket in a completely new and engaging way.
