Last week, Warwickshire Cricket Foundation celebrated Girls Cricket Week, delivering three days of exciting cricket activity at venues across the county and inspiring the next generation of young cricketers.
More than 90 girls took part in a range of festivals and events, including an All Stars Cricket Festival, Dynamos Cricket Festival, and a specially themed Women’s Cricket World Cup festival.
A particular highlight of the week was a surprise visit from the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Trophy, giving the young girls a unique opportunity to see one of the sport’s most prestigious prizes up close.
With the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup less than two weeks away, we’re urging everyone to Catch the Spirit and come and support England.
Gabby Basketter, Women’s and Girls’ Club Development Officer, said: “Girls Cricket Week was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the range of playing opportunities available for girls across Warwickshire. It was brilliant to see so many participants enjoying cricket, making new friends, and being inspired by the Women’s World Cup theme and the trophy visit.”
“We hope the week has encouraged even more girls to continue their cricketing journey and get involved with local clubs and programmes.“
