Clubs

Warwickshire and Birmingham are home to more than 105 cricket clubs, and we’re proud to support them in a variety of ways. This includes helping with facility planning, developing coaches, providing safeguarding guidance, and delivering workshops and webinars to upskill club volunteers.

In recent years, we’ve seen exciting growth in cricket across the county, particularly within women’s and girls’ cricket. There are now over 40 clubs with dedicated women’s or girls’ sections, with many more getting involved in the softball festivals that take place throughout the summer.

Club Governance

Good governance is at the heart of a safe, well-run cricket club. Ensuring your club is properly structured and compliant not only helps it run smoothly but also provides a safe and welcoming environment for players, volunteers, and spectators.

Key elements of strong club governance include:

  • Designated Safeguarding Officer – Every club should have a trained safeguarding officer to protect children and vulnerable adults and ensure everyone knows how to raise concerns.
  • Clubmark Accreditation – Achieving Clubmark demonstrates that your club meets nationally recognised standards.
  • Affiliation – Clubs should be affiliated with their county cricket board to ensure access to resources, competitions, and support.
  • Policies and Procedures – Clear, up-to-date policies on health and safety, equality, and safeguarding are essential to protecting everyone involved in your club.
