Our Gen 22 project, funded by United By 22, aims to develop the skills of young people through a yearly programme.

We ran the project for the first time in 2024, identifying two areas in Birmingham with high youth unemployment and limited social provision, engaging with 24 women in each area. Throughout the project, participants are awarded a number of coaching and officiating qualifications while also gaining leadership and coaching experience in cricket and other sports.

The programme continues to expand, working in additional areas of high deprivation and engaging more young people, giving them opportunities to play and gain new skills and qualifications.

The recipient of an award at the Women’s and Girls’ Celebration Evening.

At our inaugural Women’s and Girls’ Celebration Evening held at Edgbaston Stadium, the Gen 22 project, funded by United By 22, was presented with the Community Project Award.

Many of our students had no interest or are involved in sport. The programme has actively encouraged them to be more active and empowered. It has inspired one of our students to look into a sporting career and study sport for their post 16 education.
