On Friday, September 20, the Warwickshire Cricket Foundation welcomed 13 Cricket Collective winners to Edgbaston to receive their awards from Gavin Larsen, Warwickshire County Cricket Club’s Performance Director.
The Cricket Collective Awards celebrate volunteers who go above and beyond to help make cricket happen. Without these individuals, cricket would not function as it does at these clubs.
The Outstanding Contribution Award for Services to Coaching award is given to a person who is the life and soul of a cricket club, a league, a county, or at a school, coaching and making a difference to players.
John Boyce of Solihull Blossomfield Cricket Club received an award at the lunch on September 20th.
John started by coaching the junior team at Blossomfield before taking the role of Junior Head Coach.
In 2012, John played a key role in establishing a girls’ section. He took on significant responsibilities, including planning sessions, managing teams, coaching, providing one-on-one support, umpiring, and encouraging both parents and girls to attend coaching courses. His dedication and commitment have not gone unnoticed.
John currently serves as the coach for the Solihull Blossomfield 1st XI squad, providing one-on-one sessions as needed during both midweek training and Saturday afternoon matches.
Congratulations to John! We hope you continue to have a significant impact at Solihull Blossomfield and inspire more young people to play cricket.
