An exciting new opportunity for local cricket clubs to revive a historic Birmingham sporting venue.

In a collaboration between Mondelez International and the Bournville Village Trust, cricket clubs are invited to tender for the tenancy of the Bournville Recreation Ground on Bournville Lane.

The site, which has remained unused throughout 2025 following the closure of Bournville Cricket Club, is now being made available to a new tenant club, with Mondelez keen to see cricket return to the ground.

Clubs wishing to express interest must complete the tender form by Monday 11th August, through the link here.

Following the application deadline, shortlisted clubs will be invited for a guided tour of the ground and facilities, followed by a brief interview process. This will provide clubs an opportunity to ask any questions and further outline their vision for cricket at the site.

Dates for these visits and interviews will be confirmed after the submission window closes.

The ground has been inspected by County Pitch Advisors, and a Pitch Power report is available upon request for interested clubs.

Key Information:

  • Shared Use Agreement: The ground will operate on a “timeshare” basis with Cadbury Athletic FC, with cricket holding primacy from May to August each year.
  • Tenancy Terms: The tenancy length is currently being finalised but is expected to be suitable for clubs seeking to access grant funding.
  • Affordable Rent: Rent will be set at a highly competitive rate, reflecting Mondelez’s strong desire to reinstate cricket on site.
  • Community Focus: Tender submissions should highlight the club’s community engagement plans and outline the types of cricket activity intended at the ground.
  • Important Note: There is no bar at the facility and alcohol sales are not permitted on site.

Submissions should come from the club committee to ensure a collective approach, rather than individual expressions of interest.
