Community Project Officer Esther Lau-Mackaay has been named the Values Champion at the ECB Business of Cricket Awards, recognised for her outstanding work in community engagement and EDI initiatives.
We’re proud to share that our Community Project Officer, Esther Lau-Mackaay, has been named the Values Champion at the England and Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB) Business of Cricket Awards, held at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.
The Values Champion Award recognises individuals who embody cricket’s core values, Run on Respect, Embrace Enjoyment, Build Belonging, and Progress with Purpose, inspiring others through their actions and making a meaningful, positive impact on the game and its community.
Esther was honoured for her outstanding dedication to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives across our cultural calendar, as well as her exceptional work supporting and coordinating our Cricketeers volunteering programme on match days.
Since the merger of the Edgbaston Foundation and Warwickshire Cricket Board, Esther has played a key role in shaping our community impact and strengthening collaboration across Warwickshire County Cricket Club.
By leading initiatives such as the Bob Willis Fund x Prostate Cancer Testing and organising cultural events like Diwali, Ramadan, and Christmas, she has been instrumental in advancing inclusivity and community engagement across Warwickshire and Birmingham.
Joshua Howells-Holloway, Stadium Programmes Manager, said:
“Esther’s passion for making cricket a space where everyone feels welcome truly sets her apart. Her commitment to inclusion has had a lasting impact on local communities across Warwickshire and Birmingham through both community cricket activity and our matchday experience. We’re incredibly proud to see her recognised with this award, it’s thoroughly deserved.”
The ECB Business of Cricket Awards celebrate the business, operational, and community achievements of English and Welsh county cricket clubs. They highlight success in areas such as fan experience, community engagement, and digital innovation, and are considered a highlight of the cricketing calendar.
