Core Cities

The Core Cities programme follows four main community pillars: listen, form relationships, provide support, and establish urban hubs to boost cricket participation in Birmingham.

Through Warwickshire Cricket Foundation’s Core Cities programme, diverse communities in urban environments are given opportunities to interact, grow, and develop crucial community cohesion.

Every week, WCF’s community team delivers several core cities programmes. You can learn more about some of the programmes we deliver below.

Deloitte Day

WCF hosts a cricket festival for local students each year as part of Deloitte’s ‘5 Million Futures’ project; the collaboration that brings together people from business, sports, and education.

Glow in the Dark

As part of the South Asian Core Cities plan, WCF runs a Glow in the Dark cricket programme each year, which consists of after-school cricket sessions leading up to an end-of-term cricket festival.

Community Softball

WCF hosts community softball festivals once a month on Saturdays at Edgbaston Indoor Centre. These festivals are geared towards women who enjoy playing but do not play hard ball cricket.

ESOL Ladies

The abbreviation ESOL stands for English to Speakers of Languages. The Warwickshire Cricket Foundation provides cricket sessions for ESOL Ladies at South & City College’s Bordesley Green Campus.

Open Circle

The Warwickshire Cricket Foundation runs cricket sessions for 25 boys and 25 girls aged 11 to 16 years old on a monthly basis.

Faith Cups

Every year, as part of the South Asian Core Cities programme, WCF Faith Cups are held, including those for Ramadan and Vaisakhi.
