Funded by United By 22, the project aims to develop the skills of young people across a yearly programme.

We ran the project for the first time in 2024, identifying two areas in Birmingham with high young unemployment and a lack of social provision and engaged with 24 women in each area. Throughout the project, participants will be awarded a number of coaching and officiating qualifications while also gaining leadership and coaching experience in Cricket and other sports.

This year, we will work in four areas of high deprivation and work with more young people, giving them the opportunity to play and gain new skills and qualifications.

In February 2025, we held our inaugural Women’s and Girl’s Celebration Evening at Edgbaston Stadium. The Gen 22 project, funded by United By 22, received the Community Project Award.

“Many of our students had no interest or are involved in sport. The programme has actively encouraged them to be more active and empowered. It has inspired one of our students to look into a sporting career and study sport for their post 16 education.”
