The Girls Development Centre Programme is the newest cricket offer in Warwickshire for girls.

The programme is available to girls who aren’t currently part of the county pathway at Warwickshire. Girls are nominated by their clubs as those with a real passion for the game and potential to thrive under the guidance of an all-female coaching team.

It is a chance for the girls to play some internal matches, practice different skills in the nets and have fielding practice.

Since 2023, the Girls Development Centre Cricket has become a regular part of our Women and Girls calendar. The programme provides girls with the opportunity to play alongside and learn from some of the best players in the club game.

In 2024, we ran an expanded programme.

Girls from the U12 and U14 age groups attended trial days prior to the development centre camp at the end of August to improve their skills before individuals were selected.

The programme featured 10 female coaches. All of the coaches had been through county pathways themselves, with two current members of the Warwickshire women’s team and two with playing experience with Birmingham Phoenix in the Hundred.

We believe that having positive role models contributes to a unique and enriching cricket learning experience.
