Happy Pride!

June 1st marks the start of Pride Month. June is all about acceptance, equality and celebrating LGBTQIA+. Warwickshire Cricket Foundation and Warwickshire County Cricket Club proudly celebrate Pride Month by hosting a range of events throughout the month.

This year, we’re excited to take part in Birmingham Pride’s March on Saturday 24th May, host a cricket taster session at Edgbaston Stadium, attend the Out4Cricket Conference at Trent Bridge, hold a Rainbow Laces Vitality T20 Blast match, and host the LGBTQIA+ Cricket Festival.

To register for the cricket taster session at Edgbaston Stadium (no experience needed) please complete the form located at the bottom of this webpage.

On Saturday 24th May we’ll be marching at Birmingham Pride.

For the past two years, we’ve proudly partnered with the Birmingham Unicorns and joined them in marching at Birmingham’s Pride parade. Founded in 2020, the Birmingham Unicorns are an inclusive LGBTQIA+ cricket club based in Birmingham. They offer a welcoming space for cricket enthusiasts to play and connect, hosting a variety of Sunday 40-over friendly matches and midweek T20 games throughout the summer. You can learn more about them on their website.

Look out on our Warwickshire Cricket Foundation Instagram, Facebook and X channels on Saturday 24th May for photos and videos from the Pride march.

Rainbow Laces Game

On Friday 6th June, Birmingham Bears will take on the Yorkshire Vikings as part of the Rainbow Laces initiative. Organised by the charity Stonewall, Rainbow Laces has become a powerful symbol of inclusion in sport since its launch in 2013, with over one million people having ‘laced up’ in support of the campaign over the past decade. You can access the 2024 Rainbow Laces toolkit here.

To show their support, Bears players will be wearing rainbow laces during the match.

LGBTQIA+ Festival

The LGBTQIA+ Cricket Festival returns for its third consecutive year on Sunday 15th June. Since its launch, the festival has welcomed over 300 spectators and continues to grow, with an increasing number of teams taking part each year. Run in partnership with the Birmingham Unicorns, it proudly stands as the UK’s first LGBTQIA+ cricket tournament.

This year, the festival will feature two formats designed to suit different levels of experience and skill. Join us at Sutton Coldfield Cricket Club from 12PM on Sunday 15th June to show your support.
