Our Gen 22 project, funded by United By 22, aims to develop the skills of young people through a yearly programme.
We ran the project for the first time in 2024, identifying two areas in Birmingham with high youth unemployment and limited social provision, engaging with 24 women in each area. Throughout the project, participants are awarded a number of coaching and officiating qualifications while also gaining leadership and coaching experience in cricket and other sports.
The programme continues to expand, working in additional areas of high deprivation and engaging more young people, giving them opportunities to play and gain new skills and qualifications.
