Three years ago, Tyrese first attended an ACE (Afro-Caribbean Engagement) Programme session at Handsworth Cricket Club. Now, he is not only playing senior cricket but also coaching the next generation and building a future in the game.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Currently in his final year at the University of Birmingham studying for a Sports and Exercise Science degree, Tyrese has been part of the ACE Programme in Birmingham throughout his university journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ACE Programme is a nationwide programme, delivered across England in partnership with cricket foundations and boards, which aims to engage and inspire young people of African and Caribbean heritage by creating accessible opportunities and clear pathways into cricket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tyrese\u2019s journey began at the ACE Community Hub at Handsworth, attending weekly summer sessions and quickly becoming a regular face. His enthusiasm for the game and natural ability stood out early on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It wasn\u2019t long before he progressed into the Development Centre Academy, where he was able to access more structured training, better facilities, and work closely with experienced coaches. This step up allowed him to further develop his skills and grow in confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As his game continued to improve, Tyrese was introduced to the adult section at Handsworth Cricket Club. Stepping into senior cricket, he has become a key member of the 2nd XI, testing himself week in, week out and continuing to develop in a competitive environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But his impact hasn\u2019t just been on the pitch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After being encouraged to support younger players within the ACE sessions, Tyrese quickly discovered a passion for coaching. What started as helping out soon turned into something more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With support from ACE, he went on to achieve his ECB Level 2 coaching qualification. He now delivers sessions across the ACE Programme in Birmingham, working in schools and community settings to introduce and inspire young people to the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside this, Tyrese has also taken on a role as a casual coach with the Warwickshire Cricket Foundation, gaining valuable experience and further developing his skills within the game working across a number of other programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a full circle moment, Tyrese is now coaching young players who are at the very start of the same journey he began just a few years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His development as a player has also continued, earning selection onto the ACE Elite Academy Training Programme. Here, he trains alongside some of the most promising players, accessing high level coaching and regular training camps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Balancing university life with playing and coaching commitments, Tyrese has shown real dedication and maturity throughout his journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking ahead, he hopes to continue developing both his playing and coaching career, with ambitions to stay involved in the game at a high level.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
