Yesterday, we welcomed 55 girls from two local secondary schools to Edgbaston Stadium for a Colour Cricket event, designed to introduce more young people to the sport in an engaging and accessible way.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The session, delivered on the Colts Ground at Edgbaston, gave the girls the opportunity to take part in a round-robin cricket tournament, designed to be inclusive and enjoyable regardless of any previous cricket experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The morning began with the girls being placed into teams and throwing coloured powder to decorate their T-shirts in team colours, creating a personalised keepsake to take home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both schools stayed at Edgbaston to watch the Metro Bank One Day fixture between the Bears Women and Lancashire Women, giving many of the girls their first opportunity to experience live women\u2019s cricket at an iconic sports venue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The morning was part of our wider work to grow participation in cricket among underrepresented groups, strengthen connections with local schools, and provide young people across the county with opportunities to engage with the game in new and accessible ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
