Acorns will be the face of the Bears’ Vitality Blast game against Worcester Rapids after lead partner Talbots Law donated their match sponsorship to the children’s hospice.
Talbots Law – the Bears lead Blast sponsor – has invited Acorns to be their chosen charity for the Friday 23 June clash to help raise awareness of their work with local families and much needed funds.
Over 13,000 tickets have already been sold for Derby Day, while limited tickets are now left in some stands with prices starting from just £21.
Acorns Children’s Hospice provides specialist palliative care for life limited and life threatened children across Birmingham, Worcester and the wider West Midlands, as well as support for their families.
Around 40 charity volunteers will be at the stadium with bucket collections, card readers and to promote the ACORN5 and ACORN10 text donation number 70025.
Abi Coulson, Acorns Senior Partnership Fundraising Manager, said: “We are blown away by this incredible gesture of support from Talbots Law. Raising awareness of the work we do is vital if we’re to reach even more families and grow our supporters.
“In dedicating this important match to Acorns, Talbots Law and the Bears will be shining a spotlight on our lifeline care and support. We can’t thank them enough.
“As the local children’s hospice for both Birmingham and Worcestershire, we hope fans on both sides will show their support for Acorns. It’s a powerful reminder of how sports can bring communities together to make meaningful change.
“Together, we can be stronger for the children and families who need us, now and long into the future.”
Bears will also be holding raffles in the Club’s hospitality areas, with prizes including much sought after tickets for Blast Finals Day, to raise additional funds for Acorns.
In the past year, Acorns has cared for more than 700 children and almost 1,000 families, including those who are bereaved.
Dave Hodgetts, CEO of Talbots Law, said: “The Bears-Pears derby is one the most anticipated fixtures in the domestic cricket calendar and it’s our privilege to be able to offer Acorns Children’s Hospice such a unique and exciting platform to raise vital funds and awareness.
“We can’t wait for the game and wish all involved, both on and off the pitch, the best of luck for a special night.”
