Australia all-rounder Ashton Agar is ‘absolutely stoked’ to be joining the Bears for this summer’s Vitality Blast, with the new season less than three weeks away.
Agar, who has represented Australia in 15 T20Is and is a two-time Big Bash winner, will arrive at Edgbaston ahead of the season opener away at Worcestershire on Friday 19 July, before making his home debut on Sunday 21 July against Leicestershire Foxes.
“To be able to come here and play all 14 games for the Bears, I’m absolutely stoked,” he said. “I’m excited to meet the boys and play T20 cricket, which is probably my favourite format of the game.
“I’m hungry to play. We want to play in front of big crowds and win games for the fans. To play in front of a strong home crowd, it lifts the home team. I know that at Edgbaston it’s like a party atmosphere and even I at times want to be in the crowd when I play here.”
