Birmingham Phoenix are delighted to confirm that Ali Maiden will remain as Women’s Head Coach for the next two seasons.
The 43-year-old was appointed Head Coach for the 2025 season alongside his existing duties as Bears Women’s Head Coach and will lead the Phoenix into the exciting next chapter of The Hundred.
Maiden, who won the 2017 ICC Women’s World Cup as England’s Assistant Coach and was part of the coaching staff that guided London Spirit to victory in The Hundred in 2024, navigated the Phoenix through a transitional year and with a new ownership structure is poised to launch a challenge at the top of the table in 2026.
The Wordsley-born former Yorkshire batting coach said: “It’s an exciting time to be part of the Phoenix and I’m therefore delighted to have signed a new two-year deal as Women’s Head Coach.
“We have a clear strategy to our player recruitment model and we are confident that will translate into results on the pitch.
“I have a great relationship with James and the rest of the performance staff and we are all on the same page in terms of the pathway for the Birmingham Phoenix, so I’m really excited for next season already.”
James Thomas, Performance Director of the Birmingham Phoenix, said: “Ali’s impact in his first year as Head Coach made the decision to extend his contract a straightforward one.
“His proven ability to develop talented young players fits perfectly with our playing strategy, and he is a key part of a strong leadership team that is shaping the Phoenix brand of cricket.
“We have big ambitions for Birmingham Phoenix, and securing Ali on a new contract is another important step as we build for the future.”
Last week, the Birmingham Phoenix announced that former New Zealand fast bowler Shane Bond will be the Head Coach of the Men’s Team for the next two years.
