Bears Women fast bowlers Em Arlott and Issy Wong have been named in the England Women’s upcoming white-ball series against the West Indies.
Arlott’s call-up is reward for an impressive start to the Women’s Metro Bank One Day Cup campaign in which she’s the joint leading wicket taker with 14.
The 27-year-old – who’s been selected for both the ODI and IT20 squads – also claimed a maiden List A century at Essex last month which helped her land the competition’s Player of the Month award.

Wong impressed for England Women A in their recent tour of Australia where she took a five-fer in a four-day red ball game against Australia A.
The 22-year-old – who features in the IT20 squad – has played 17 times for her country, including 12 IT20s.
Led by new captain Nat Sciver-Brunt, England will contest three Vitality IT20s and three Metro Bank One Day Internationals (ODIs).
The IT20 series, the first under Sciver-Brunt and head coach Charlotte Edwards’ leadership, gets underway with the opening match on Wednesday 21 May in Canterbury.

Charlotte Edwards said: “We have selected squads on the back of strong performances and form in the opening rounds of the Metro Bank One Day Cup. That was the challenge to the players and I’ve been so impressed by what I’ve seen across the competition.
“It’s great to be able to reward that form, and to see one or two new faces in the squad, as well as the return of a few others. I’m sure they’ll be delighted and they can be proud of what they’ve done in order to be selected.
“We are all really looking forward to meeting up in Canterbury and can’t wait to take to the field in front of our supporters.
“There’s an exciting summer ahead. Our first priority is to win games of cricket. That’s how we’re judged and that’s our first aim, starting with this white-ball series against West Indies.”
