Hannah Baker and Charis Pavely have earned call-ups to England Women’s upcoming tour of Ireland.

Baker (20) and 19-year-old Pavely – who have both signed to play for Bears Women in a new national structure from 2025 – are included in squads that will face Ireland in three ODIs and three T20s.

Baker has been named in both squads, while Pavely has been selected for the IT20s.

England’s tour with Ireland gets underway on Saturday 7 September in Belfast, which will be the first of three ODIs. The games will conclude 10 days later with the final T20 in Dublin.

Leg spinner Baker had been knocking on the England door after being part of England A training camps and the side’s tour of New Zealand earlier this year.

She’s been an ever-present for the Central Sparks since 2021 and recently received her 50th cap for the West Midlands regional team.

Having also played in three additions of The Hundred, at just 20, the Worcestershire-born spinner can arguably be considered an experienced player in the women’s game.

For all-rounder Pavely, an impressive 2023 campaign has seen her rewarded with a maiden call up to England’s senior team. She also excelled in the U19 tour of Sri Lanka for England in March this year.

Pavely has broken onto the scene with Central Sparks and Birmingham Phoenix – for whom she took nine wickets in this campaign – after coming through the Sparks’ Academy.

Bears Head of Women’s Cricket Laura MacLeod said: “These call-ups are wholly merited. They are two exciting young talents who will relish the opportunity to be a part of the England set up.

“Both have enjoyed solid domestic seasons and with past experiences in an around the national set-up, including the ICC U19 Women’s World Cup.”
