Warwickshire County Cricket Club has confirmed that batsman Liam Banks has been released from the men’s team squad following the end of his current contract.

Born in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Banks (21) signed his first professional contract in 2016 after initially joining the Warwickshire Academy as a 13-year-old through the Club’s close relationship with Staffordshire Cricket. He went on to make 10 First Class, eight List A and six T20 appearances for the Bears.

“It’s always disappointing when we have to let a former Academy graduate go,” said Warwickshire Sport Director Paul Farbrace.

“Liam has given a huge amount to the Club during his time as a Bear and worked very hard to make the step into the professional arena. He leaves with good wishes of everyone at Warwickshire CCC and we wish him the very best in the next stage of his career.”
