Warwickshire will start their 2024 County Championship campaign at home against local rivals Worcestershire as part of a packed schedule of men’s and women’s cricket next summer.
The season starts on Friday 5 April when near neighbours Worcestershire, promoted from Division Two, make the short trip to Edgbaston.
The red-ball calendar promises plenty of weekend cricket at Edgbaston with only one of seven home matches played entirely on weekdays, plus the return of four-day action in August.
Bears’ Vitality Blast home campaign will start in spectacular style as Blast Off returns on Saturday 1 June.
It’s the marquee T20 fixture of the launch weekend and the only one in the country that sees a men’s double-header on the same day, as the Bears face Notts Outlaws and Derbyshire Falcons play Leicestershire Foxes.
The big Bears v Pears local derby, which had almost 17,000 fans in attendance in 2023, has once again been handed a prime slot on Friday 12 July.
Mark Robinson’s men, who topped the North Group last season with 11 wins from 14, will be looking to make it five home T20 wins in a row against Worcestershire in front of another capacity crowd.
Vitality Blast tickets will go on sale in February and fans can register now to get priority access to tickets at the best prices, saving up to £5 per ticket. Or don’t wait for priority and find out more about Hospitality or Premium Tickets today.
The T20 schedule will also see two double-header match days with Central Sparks, including the popular annual Family Fun Day taking place on Saturday 8 June.
Sparks will play four games in total at Edgbaston in 2024 across both the Rachael Heyhoe-Flint Trophy and Charlotte Edwards Cup competitions.
Warwickshire are exploring the possibility of taking some fixtures into the wider county during the Metro Bank One Day Cup season, with the aim of playing three 50-over matches at a regional outground during August.
It will be the first time the Bears have played a home fixture at an out ground since 2013 providing Members and fans a chance to watch List A cricket at a local venue in the county. Full details about the venue for these fixtures will be announced in due course.
Chief Executive Stuart Cain, said: “It’s always an exciting time of the year when fixtures are released, and we’re set for another superb summer of domestic men’s and women’s cricket.
“We can look forward to not one, but two local derbies against Worcestershire at Edgbaston, with the big T20 fixture taking place in July and is one all Bears fans shouldn’t miss.
“Members have been asking for a while if we could explore the possibility of playing some games at an outground in Warwickshire and we’re hoping to do this in 2024. More information on ticketing and logistics will be provided if we find a suitable venue.
“We saw from our trip to Neath last year to play Glamorgan, these are great occasions, a real festival atmosphere, and an opportunity to bring the Club closer to the community.”
