Warwickshire County Cricket Club has secured a one-year contract extension with big-hitting batsman Ed Pollock to cover all forms of the game in the 2021 season.
Pollock, 25, started his cricketing career at Barnt Green Cricket Club and joined the Bears on an Academy development contract in 2016 before stepping up to join the professional ranks in 2016. He subsequently made his breakthrough to the senior team in T20 cricket in 2017, when he scored 283 runs in nine innings, at a strike rate of 174.7, to help the Bears to the final of the Vitality Blast.
He has since gone on to make 34 T20 and 17 List A appearances for the Bears.
“Ed can be one of the most destructive batsmen in the county game on his day and we were very keen to ensure that he remains a Bear and that he continues to provide the team with such an explosive top-order option. He is also an excellent and impressive young man and is very well thought of by all players and coaches.
Paul Farbrace, Director of Cricket at Warwickshire CCC
“Outside of his time at Edgbaston, it’s great to see a professional continue to give so much to our local club game, with Ed regularly performing his role for Barnt Green CC on summer Saturdays in the Birmingham & District Premier League.”
Ed Pollock said: “I’m delighted to sign this contract extension with Warwickshire for the 2021 season. It’s a privilege to play for such a special club and to be a part of this young and exciting squad.
“I’m looking forward to continuing to develop my game at Edgbaston and to putting in match winning performances across all formats for Warwickshire and the Birmingham Bears.”
