Warwickshire County Cricket Club have agreed with Gloucestershire for all-rounder Jacob Bethell to join the West Country county for this week’s LV= Insurance County Championship match versus Somerset.
Bethell (18) will feature for Gloucestershire against their local rivals at home before returning to Edgbaston for the Bears Vitality Blast campaign.
“We ultimately want Jacob to spend many years at Edgbaston as a first team regular across all formats. However, we need to get him more experience and this brief stint with Gloucestershire is a fantastic opportunity to bat in the top order and get some overs in for a fellow Division One Championship side.
Paul Farbrace
“He’s making excellent progress in his development and he’s relishing this chance to play a big role for Gloucestershire in this game. We will certainly be following the match closely and hope that he comes back in excellent touch ready to challenge for a place in our T20 team.”
Bethell made his First Class debut for Warwickshire against Yorkshire in September after making three appearances in the Vitality Blast campaign last summer. He subsequently starred for England in the recent ICC Under 19s Cricket World Cup.
