Warwickshire County Cricket Club has confirmed pre-season friendly matches versus Durham and Nottinghamshire ahead of the opening game in the LV= Insurance County Championship.
Played behind closed doors without spectators, because of the current Government restrictions, Warwickshire face Durham at Edgbaston 24-26 March. The Bears then welcome Nottinghamshire on 30-31 March, with first and second team fixtures played respectively at Edgbaston and the Edgbaston Community Sports Ground at Portland Road.
Pre-season preparations are wrapped up at Weetwood, Leeds, for the annual university fixture against Leeds/Bradford UCCE (3-5 April) before the Bears return to Edgbaston to face Derbyshire in the opening match of the LV= Insurance County Championship on 8 April.
Paul Farbrace, Director of Cricket at Warwickshire CCC, said: “The team start outdoor training on the Colts Ground next week, so it’s great that we can move things forward quickly by securing two competitive friendlies.
“Whilst it’s essential to dedicate a large amount of time to players’ fitness and indoor training programmes, there’s nothing that can repeat that time in the middle and these fixtures are the ideal way to prepare the squad for the upcoming season.”

Both pre-season friendly matches at Edgbaston will be live streamed through the Edgbaston app and Warwickshire YouTube page, but without commentary.
Please do not travel to the venue on any match day as these fixtures are being played behind closed doors and strictly follow the latest Government requirements.
