A Bear Hunt is coming to Birmingham as part of a day-long festival of fun to launch the Bears summer of T20 Vitality Blast cricket.

The festival – or Bearstival – on Tuesday 28 May will see Birmingham transformed into a Bear Hunt that will see fans follow clues to track down hidden Bears.

Bears players and Hugh Bear cuddly toys will be dotted in and around Birmingham waiting to be uncovered by City Centre sergeants, Digbeth detectives and Kings Heath cops.

The hunt will begin at 10am, with clues released on Warwickshire CCC’s social media channels throughout the day to help the public track down the Bears in hiding.

And the Blast launch party continues into the evening as the club gives the Mailbox a cricket makeover, where visitors can face Bears players on a pop-up cricket pitch.

From 2pm, Hugh and Carmen Bear, the Club’s beloved mascots, will be on hand to help the public bowl out the players as the city celebrates the return of the T20 Vitality Blast season.

To wrap up the events, the Bears will be taking over Sixes. Very Important Bears – or VIBs – will be invited to take on the players in the popular game, as well as put their own questions to them as part of a Q&A.

VIB passes will be handed out as part of the Bear Hunt, while fans can also enter an online competition to be in with a chance of winning an invite.

Bears Marketing Executive Beth Peers said: “What better way to ring in the new T20 Vitality Blast season than inviting the public to take part in a Bear hunt?

“Two Bears players and 50 Hugh Bear toys will be dotted around landmarks and family attractions in and around Birmingham, with many prizes to be won.

“As well as VIB passes for the evening, which will include a game at Sixes in the Mailbox, match tickets, shop discounts and Bears merchandise can also be claimed, marking Birmingham Bears’ biggest ever cricket giveaway!”

Bears’ 2024 Vitality Blast campaign starts on Friday 31 May with a trip to Durham before the team return to Edgbaston the following day (Sat 1 June) for Blast Off, a spectacular double-header featuring four teams.

Blast Off sees Derbyshire Falcons take on Leicestershire Foxes from 2.30pm before Bears face Notts Outlaws at 6.30pm.
