Batsman and spinner to leave the club following the end of their contracts

Warwickshire County Cricket Club has confirmed that batsman Andy Umeed and spin bowler Sunny Singh are to leave the club following the end of their contracts.

Glasgow-born Umeed (22) progressed from the Warwickshire academy to sign his first professional contract ahead of the 2015 season. He scored a century on First Class debut in 2016 and has gone on to play 14 First Class games, scoring 490 runs.

Singh, also 22, was initially spotted through the Warwickshire Cricket Board’s Chance to Shine programme before playing county age group cricket and joining the club academy. He signed his first professional contract ahead of the 2016 season and has taken 17 wickets in six First Class appearances for the club.

“We’re always disappointed when we release players who have come through our pathway,” said Warwickshire CCC Sport Director Ashley Giles.

“Andy and Sunny both played first team cricket in 2017, but unfortunately they have not been able to push for further senior opportunities this season.

“We thank both players for everything that they have given to Warwickshire CCC and wish them the very best in their future careers.”
