Warwickshire County Cricket Club’s Chris Woakes, Tim Ambrose and Chris Wright have committed to the Bears by signing new contract extensions.

Birmingham-born Woakes (27), who joined Warwickshire at the under 10s age group, has committed his future to the Club until at least the end of the 2019 season, whilst former England wicket-keeper Ambrose (33) and England Lions Fast Bowler Wright (30) will remain Bears until at least the end of 2018.

Dougie Brown, Warwickshire CCC Director of Cricket, said: “Securing the futures of Chris, Tim and Chris is a great boost to the team as we look to build on a strong performance in our first match of the Specsavers County Championship.

“Woakesy is a proud Bear and has been one of the leading all-rounders in the country for several years. We’re very fortunate to have him leading the attack in this early part of the season.

“In Tim, we have an outstanding and vastly experienced wicket keeper who has been with the Club for 10 years. Along with Woakesy, he has won all domestic honours in the game and is the Club’s proud beneficiary for the 2016 season.

“Wrighty joined us on loan just before the end of the 2011 season, but he soon became a Bear permanently and went on to play a crucial role in our County Championship triumph in the following year. He is a key member of the bowling attack and we’re delighted that he has committed to the Club until at least 2018.”
