Birmingham Bears have signed England Woman’s all-rounder Jenny Gunn from Nottinghamshire for the 2016 domestic season.

Jenny (29) made her England debut against New Zealand in 2004 and has gone on to win 129 one-day international, 92 international T20 and 11 Test caps to date. She was part of the England teams that won the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup and ICC Women’s World Twenty20 in 2009 and has also been part of five Ashes Series wins.

Darren Franklin, Head of Women’s Cricket at Warwickshire CCC, said: “Jenny has been one of the leading cricketers in the women’s game for several years and has won all international honours with England.

“We’re thrilled that she has chosen to become a Bear as we look to build on last year’s NatWest Women’s T20 runner-up place and challenge for honours in both competitions in 2016.”

Jenny joins fellow England players Becky Grundy and Amy Jones as Bears, in addition to Australian all-rounder Anna Lanning who arrived last week ahead of the new season.

Jenny Gunn, said: “Birmingham Bears have a good base of young, talented players and I’m looking forward to being part of the team and playing alongside them.

“The Club has made good progress in the women’s game in recent seasons and hopefully I can play a key role in pushing towards our first piece of silverware.”

Birmingham Bears Women start their NatWest Women’s T20 campaign by playing their first match at Edgbaston on Sunday 19 June as part of two T20 double header days that include a men’s NatWest T20 Blast fixture.
