This weekend saw the start of the highly anticipated Kia Women’s T20 Super League with three of our Birmingham Bears & Warwickshire Women involved across two of the six franchise teams – both of which won their first matches.

On Saturday, Rebecca Grundy and Amy Jones were involved in Loughborough Lightning’s 43 run victory over the Yorkshire Diamonds. Although Amy was out cheaply with the bat, she kept wicket with no byes conceded. Rebecca starred with the ball taking 3/21 from her 4 overs.

On Sunday, Georgia Hennessy played in the Western Storm’s first match in the competition, and after taking the final Lancashire Thunder wicket to fall, Georgia was 11 not out ensuring that the Storm collected a bonus batting point for winning inside 16 overs of their reply.

The girls play against each other in the next round of matches this Friday 5th August – the Loughborough Lightning play the Western Storm at The ECB National Academy Ground, Loughborough University commencing at 4.30pm.
