Several Warwickshire County Cricket Club players turned out to show their support to Ed Mordaunt, who visited Edgbaston Stadium on Monday 4 May as the final test ground stop of a 1000km+ cycle ride in memory of his son who tragically passed away last year at the age of ten.

Players from the women’s squad, including Meg Austin, Alexa Stonehouse, Georgia Davis, Nat Wraith, Hannah Baker and Amu Surenkumar, and Sam Hain from the men’s team took time to talk with Ed, who was visiting Edgbaston as the last stop on his bike ride, taking in all nine UK test match venues to raise money for It’s Never You, a charity that supports the parents of children with cancer.

Ed’s son, Raff, was diagnosed with Leukaemia in January 2025 before he passed away in May last year at the age of ten.

In memory of his cricket-loving son, Ed’s idea for Raff’s Ride was created, with the cycle, which began on Tuesday 21 April, ‘for anyone who has felt despair and needed to believe that life can still be beautiful after the toughest of events’.

Ed was completing the cycle on a 35-year-old Raleigh Chilton bike that he used to drop his two sons off at school with.

After the stop off at Edgbaston – the final major venue of the ride – Ed and his team of riders completed their journey at Whittington Cricket Club in Staffordshire, a place where Raff played his cricket.

Ed has incredibly raised over £32,500 so far, with donations still open. You can visit his donation page to read more about his and Raff’s story here.
