Current form

The Bears will be looking to pick up a first win of the 2026 Vitality Blast when they travel to Trent Bridge on Friday night.

It’s been a testing few weeks for Ed Barnard’s side, but things could have been very different had key moments in their four fixtures to date gone in their favour. The Bears have also come up against several inspired performances from opposing players, most notably James Rew for Somerset, who hit 93 off 48 balls, and Northamptonshire’s Chris Lynn, whose 115 not out came off 59 balls.

The Bears will look to get off the mark for the campaign against a Notts side that secured their first win of the season last Sunday.

After losses against fellow North Group teams Yorkshire, Lancashire and Derbyshire, the Outlaws ended that run with a comprehensive six-wicket win at home to Durham last week. On that occasion they successfully chased down 156 with 16 balls remaining, thanks to an unbeaten 88 from George Munsey.

Previous meetings

The Bears have won three of the last four games between the two sides at Trent Bridge, however it was the Outlaws that came out on top the last time the teams met there in the Blast.

In a high-scoring game, Sam Hain powered the Bears to 226 for five with an unbeaten 92 from just 49 balls, and he was ably assisted by Barnard (55 off 28) and Alex Davies (40 off 22).

Jack Haynes proved to be the match-winner for the hosts, with an unbeaten 89 off 41 balls seeing the home side to a seven-wicket win, and with five balls left of the innings.

The previous three meetings between the sides at Trent Bridge had gone in favour of the Bears, including two one-sided results. In 2022, Hain’s 112 not out and an unbeaten 88 from Adam Hose helped the Bears post a mammoth 261 for two – at the time, the biggest score in Blast history.

On the other end of the run-scoring spectrum, in 2024 the Bears won by nine wickets after bowling Notts out for just 57. There were seven different wicket-takers for Warwickshire, before they knocked off the total one down.

Players to watch

Beau Webster – The big-hitting Australian showcased all of his talent in last week’s outing against Northants, scoring a blistering 97 off 56 balls in an innings that included ten fours and five sixes.

Jordan Thompson – Thompson was the pick of Warwickshire’s bowlers in the sides last outing, taking two wickets by bowling quick and full. His yorker-length deliveries saw him bowl both David Willey and Justin Broad on the day.

George Munsey (Notts) – Munsey powered Notts to their first win of the 2026 Vitalty Blast on Sunday, hitting nine fours and three sixes on his way to a 52-ball unbeaten 88. He’s currently the fifth highest run-scorer in the competition.
