The Bears’ Women squad will return in search of silverware in the Vitality Women’s County T20 Cup, hoping to make it back-to-back titles after emerging as champions in 2019.

Situated in the West Midlands group, the Bears will go head-to-head with Berkshire, Cricket Wales, Somerset and Worcestershire as they bid to retain the regional title.

The Bears defence will begin on 25 April with games on the road versus Cricket Wales and Berkshire.

The team then return home to the Edgbaston Community Sports Ground, on Portland Road, for matches with Cricket Wales and Somerset on 3 May and Worcestershire and Berkshire on 9 May.

The final round of matches sees Bears travel away to local rivals, Worcestershire and also face Somerset as the regional cup reaches its conclusion.

Captain of the Bears, Marie Kelly spoke about the preparations for the upcoming season and the excitement to get back out to the middle after a prolonged period away from the Bears.

‘‘We’re all hugely excited to get back out there and represent the Bears again this year, for us it is the highlight of our season so it cannot come soon enough.

‘’Winter preparations have gone really well, and we’ve had some great time with all girls being involved in the new women’s domestic regional teams. That experience is going to be crucial going into this season in the regional cup.

“Some girls played for a few different teams, so we are really looking forward to returning back together as the Bears and hopefully bringing the trophy back to Edgbaston for a second time.’’

Please note that due to the latest Government guidance, all fixtures will be played behind closed doors.
