Birmingham Phoenix are delighted to announce that England all-rounder Jacob Bethell has re-signed with the franchise ahead of the 2026 season of The Hundred.

The 22-year-old left-handed batting all-rounder will remain at Edgbaston after a breakout period that has seen him make significant strides on the international stage and in domestic competitions, having first appeared for the Phoenix in 2023.

Born in Barbados and developed through the Warwickshire pathway, Bethell has become one of England’s most exciting young talents.

In international cricket to date, he has featured across all three formats, scoring 476 Test runs, including a match-winning 40 in last month’s fourth Ashes test and his maiden century in the final test at the Sydney Cricket Ground, finishing on 154.

He has also contributed valuable innings in limited overs formats, including 517 runs at an average just above 34 in ODIs.

On the T20 stage, Bethell has showcased his attacking instincts with 392 runs at an average of 30.15 and a strike rate over 150, while also chipping in with useful overs with the ball.

His explosive style has also attracted attention from overseas, with Bethell having plied his trade in both the IPL and BBL in addition to appearing in domestic competition in England.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be back with Birmingham Phoenix,” Bethell said. “Phoenix is a special environment, the crowd at Edgbaston is incredible, and the team we’re building is hugely exciting as we plot to win The Hundred later this season.

“I can’t wait for the challenges ahead and contributing with bat and ball to help land the trophy in August.”

Phoenix Performance Director James Thomas added: “Jacob brings an exciting blend of skill, versatility and competitive edge to the Phoenix. His progression over recent seasons has been significant, both domestically and internationally, and he’s consistently demonstrating the qualities required to perform under pressure in short-format cricket, when it really matters.

“As a player developed through the Warwickshire pathway with strong Birmingham roots, Jacob understands the standards and expectations we’re setting. His recommitment reinforces our ambition to build a Phoenix team capable of challenging the very best, playing bold, high-impact cricket, and delivering performances that matter.

“We’re delighted he’ll be a key part of that journey in 2026.”
