One of world cricket’s most exciting stars, destructive Aussie batter Georgia Voll, is heading to Edgbaston after being signed by Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred Draft.

Voll – who hit 101 in 87 balls for Australia in just her second international in December – was Ali Maiden’s first pick as women’s Head Coach in yesterday’s draft.

And the 21-year-old will line-up alongside fellow draft signing, England’s Emma Lamb, in a powerful looking Phoenix Women top order.

They join a host of big names set to light up Edgbaston for Phoenix Women including Voll’s Aussie teammates Ellyse Perry and Megan Schutt, plus England wicketkeeper and former Bear Amy Jones.

Voll made a stunning start to her international career when she hit 46 not out and 101 in the first two ODIs against India in Australia.

And in the last few days she’s smashed 55 and 99 not out for UP Warriorz in the WPL.

Voll said: “Edgbaston is one of the best grounds in the world. I can’t wait to call it home and to join up with Ellyse, Amy, Megan and the rest of the team.

“I think any competition that’s about engaging kids is one to be excited about, The Hundred really does well in terms of crowds and you see a lot of young faces so I’m excited to get amongst it again this summer.”

The women’s picks were completed by Midlands trio Marie Kelly, Georgie Boyce and Bethan Ellis which makes the 15-player squad.

Phoenix Men Head Coach Daniel Vettori’s big move yesterday was the signing of wicketkeeper Joe Clarke, plus exciting teenage pace bowler Harry Moore.

Other players to be picked up in the men’s squad include Chris Wood and Tom Helm adding more pace to the experienced bowling line-up which already features three New Zealand internationals.

Phoenix Men retained a strong domestic core in last month’s Deadline Day with England men’s duo Ben Duckett and Liam Livingstone back at Edgbaston for The Hundred this summer.

“I’m delighted to be picked by Birmingham Phoenix,” said 17-year-old Derbyshire pacer Moore. “It’ll be my first taste of The Hundred so I can’t wait to get out there in front of packed crowds. The squad has lots of international and domestic talent, and it’ll be an amazing chance for me to learn from the best in the world.”

Birmingham Phoenix’s 2025 campaign gets underway on Friday 8 August with one of the biggest games in The Hundred fixture schedule: a fiercely-fought derby against local rivals Trent Rockets at Edgbaston. Tickets are already selling fast for this fixture!
