Warwickshire slow left-arm bowler Danny Briggs is joining Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Adelaide Strikers for the tenth edition of Australia’s premier T20 tournament.

Departing this month ahead of the Strikers’ opening game versus on 13 December against the Hobart Hurricanes at Blundstone Arena, Briggs will join the two-time BBL winners for the entire campaign before returning to Edgbaston for the Bears’ pre-season preparations.

“Having members of our squad test themselves against many of the world’s best players, in premier tournaments, is something that we support wholeheartedly,” said Warwickshire’s Director of Cricket Paul Farbrace.

“When we signed Danny last month we were acutely aware of his record in the Vitality Blast – as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker – and how highly thought of he is within the game.

“He still has big ambitions to force his way back into the England set-up and we want to give him every possible opportunity to continue developing as a cricketer and to enjoy the best years of his career at Warwickshire.”

Danny Briggs said: “I’m really excited about joining the Strikers, the BBL is one of the best competitions in world cricket and something I’ve wanted to be a part of for years.

“I really can’t wait to get going.”
