
Jacob Bethell and Henry Brookes have been picked up by Birmingham Phoenix with their Vitality Wildcard selections.
Brookes, chosen in round one, returns to the Phoenix having taken six wickets in six matches last year. Originally picked by Oval Invincibles with a Vitality Wilcard pick, Phoenix used their right to match for the right-arm seamer, who’s added 12 wickets during this year’s Blast campaign.
Bethell heads to Phoenix after featuring for Welsh Fire in 2022. The 19-year-old made seven appearances for the Bears this campaign, showcasing his 360 hitting ability and impressive fielding range.
The duo join Moeen Ali (Birmingham Phoenix), Chris Benjamin (Birmingham Phoenix), Danny Briggs (Oval Invicibles), Alex Davies (Southern Brave), Sam Hain (Trent Rockets), Dan Mousley (Birmingham Phoenix) and Chris Woakes (Birmingham Phoenix) in the men’s competition.
Hannah Baker (Birmingham Phoenix), Georgia Davis (Welsh Fire) Amy Jones (Birmingham Phoenix), Eve Jones (Birmingham Phoenix) Marie Kelly (Trent Rockets), Issy Wong (Birmingham Phoenix) are included in the women’s edition which starts on 1 August.
Birmingham Phoenix’s campaign kicks off against the Northern Supercharges at Headingley on Thursday 3 August, whilst the first home fixture at Edgbaston takes place two days later against Trent Rockets on Saturday 5 August.
