Warwickshire County Cricket Club can confirm that batsman Varun Chopra has been released to join Essex for the remainder of the 2016 season.
Chopra (29) had already signed a three- year contract to join Essex at the end of the current season. However, given recent form and the club’s need to develop a new opening partnership that can continue forward into the future, the Warwickshire team management believe that it is best for both parties for Varun to join his new county with immediate effect.
Warwickshire CCC would like to express its thanks to Varun for his contribution as a batsman and former captain and wishes him the very best for the future.
