Without any doubt the main story of the first Investec Test Match at Lord’s was Chris Woakes phenomenal 11 wicket haul.

Woakes picked up 5-31 on day three of the first Test against Pakistan after his first-innings 6-70 and now joins the greats English cricket including; Broad, Botham, Trueman and Statham – with a 10-wicket match haul at Lord’s.

When you take that 10th, it is hard to explain, but I suppose the celebrations tell a story as well.

Chris Woakes

Speaking to the BBC Woakes said “It’s my ninth test. I probably haven’t shown people what I can do on this arena so far. It’s nice to have a really good Test match. It’s just my day that I managed to get the wickets.

“The guys have already stuck the tape on the Lord’s honours board for it to be engraved. There are some amazing names on that board – the legends of the game.

“The 10th was in the back of my mind particularly when I got my third wicket in this innings. To get that 10th and get on the board, it was a lovely moment. When you take that 10th, it is hard to explain, but I suppose the celebrations tell a story as well.”
