Hello to all Bears fans and I hope you are all keeping safe and well.

Well, it’s been a really good week on two fronts. Out here with Delhi Capitals we have made a strong start to the IPL with three wins from the first four games. Back home in Birmingham, the Bears had a fantastic win at Trent Bridge.

More on those in a moment, but first of from my hotel room in India, I did a Zoom link up with my old school, Whitecrest Primary School, in Great Barr. More details to follow next week…

Out here in India, I am really enjoying my time with the Capitals. We have moved to Chennai which meant that I did not play in the last game because the pitches here are slower and more spin-friendly, so that altered the balance of the side.

We have a squad with a lot of options which gives us the luxury of tailoring the bowling attack to suit the conditions. It is always disappointing not to play, but I fully understood the decision and just want to get back in the side as soon as possible.

I have been pretty happy with my performances so far. I took a bit of tap in the death overs of the last game I played but that can happen in T20.

It was fantastic to see the Bears pull of that amazing win at Trent Bridge.  To lose Dom Sibley on the first day and then still go on to win is testament to the fighting spirit and quality of the squad. I think there are some very exciting times ahead for the Bears.

In the immediate term, hopefully there are some exciting times for the Capitals in the next few weeks. To beat the Mumbai Indians, one of the real big-hitters in the tournament, the other day really put down a marker. It’s been a great start, so let’s see where we can take it.

More from me next week. Until then, stay safe and COYB!
