Warwickshire legends including MJK Smith, Dennis Amiss and John Jameson assembled at Edgbaston for a celebration of the Club’s Honourary Life Members.

Honourary Life Membership is the highest accolade bestowed by the Club.

It’s awarded to ex-players who’ve made a significant contribution to Warwickshire, on and off the field, and who’ve represented the Club at international level.

Administrators recognised as making an exceptional contribution to the long-term success of the Club are also eligible. The event featured Chair of almost 10 years Norman Gascoigne and ex-Chief Executive Colin Povey.

The group enjoyed lunch before hearing briefings on Club projects from Chief Executive Stuart Cain and Chair Mark McCafferty, and squad updates from Performance Director Gavin Larsen and First Team Coach Mark Robinson.

Stuart Cain, said: “We wanted to recognize the role Honourary Life Members play at the Club, both their achievements as former players and their role now in being ambassadors for the Bears at Edgbaston and in the community.

“We have a long history at Warwickshire and we will always be proud of our roots and stay true to our values and tradition.”

The Club currently has 35 Honourary Life Members. Applications are proposed by the Nominations Committee and approved by the Club Board.

Former players Neil Smith, Asif Din and Jamie McDowall, plus Neil Houghton (Chair from 2004 to 2010), were also in attendance.
