Stuart Cain, Chief Executive of Warwickshire County Cricket Club, said:
“It’s fantastic for all sports fans that the Government’s spectator pilot programme is set to resume this weekend at the World Snooker Championship in Sheffield.
“We would love to keep Edgbaston at the forefront of this spectator pilot programme and to secure some more cricket for our Members and supporters to experience live.
“Following this announcement we plan to work closely with our partners at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS), the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Birmingham City Council to discuss future opportunities for pilots during our Vitality Blast campaign, which begins on 28 August.

“Given the close working relationship with these partners, the Club received excellent feedback from the initial pilot of 28 July, when we accommodated more than 800 Club Members at a red ball friendly match versus Worcestershire.
“With our operational experience, large seating capacity and wide space available around Edgbaston, we certainly hope that we can bring more positive news to our Members and supporters in the coming weeks.
“Should we receive any further updates, we will of course release via edgbaston.com, through our Members’ newsletter* and through our Warwickshire CCC social media channels.”
