Warwickshire County Cricket Club recently expressed its thanks to long-standing Members Mike Williams, Andrew Burn and John Winspear who stood down from their official positions with the Club at last week’s AGM.

Mike retires as one of the Club’s Members’ Committee representatives on the Board, as well as Chair of the Warwickshire Cricket Board (WCB). Having been a Member of the Club for many years, he was first elected to the previous General Committee structure in 2007 and subsequently the Management Board in 2010. He became Chair of WCB in 2010.

Andrew has finished his final term as the Club’s additional Members’ Committee representative on the Board. He has held several official positions with the Club, having originally been appointed to the General Committee. He was Chair of the old Strategic Development Committee and Warwickshire County Cricket Club Supporters’ Association.

John retires from his position on the Members’ Committee having previously been appointed to the Club’s General Committee and subsequently the Management Committee. He also retires from his position on the Cricket Audit Committee, which represents the Club’s elite teams and high-performance structure. However, he remains a member of the WCB management committee.

“Mike, Andrew and John have played a major role in making significant positive changes across the Club in their tenure as Board and committee representatives. During their time, we’ve seen the team win multiple trophies and the Club complete the first phase of transformational development at Edgbaston.

Mark McCafferty

“They’re all incredibly well respected within the game, not just locally in Warwickshire, but around the county network. They’ve also been excellent ambassadors for the Club during their time following the Bears on the road.”

With the three representatives having officially retired from their roles at the recent AGM, and the previous development of an additional vacancy, four new appointments have been made to the Members’ Committee:

  • Stuart Brereton
  • Elizabeth Homer
  • Mohammad Hussein
  • Lachlan Smith

Iftkhar Ahmed and Courtney Rowlands have been appointed by the Members Committee as its two elected Board members, replacing Mike Williams and Andrew Burn.
