Warwickshire County Cricket Club has revealed an exciting new crest for its Birmingham Bears T20 team at an exclusive event for Members and supporters at Edgbaston.

Designed by Birmingham-based digital agency Class Creative and Bears’ batsman Jonathon Webb – who spent time with the agency as part of his PCA Personal Development Plan – the new crest features a roaring bear and scratch marks as the Club continues to develop a unique T20 offering.

The Club has also extended the Birmingham Bears name to the women’s team, who will play at Edgbaston for the first time in 2016 as part of two T20 double header days – with both men’s and women’s fixtures – on Sunday 19 June and Sunday 17 July.

Neil Snowball, Chief Executive of Warwickshire County Cricket Club, said: “We’ve made excellent progress in connecting with the city and local community since becoming Birmingham Bears for all T20 cricket two years ago. Attendances have grown by 97 per cent in two years and we are also attracting more than double the number of Under 16s.

“Whilst we have a good platform, T20 cricket is rapidly evolving around the world and the Club needs to in a position to capitalise on this opportunity. This new crest will feature on all of our playing kit and an exciting range of merchandise, which we believe is more appealing to the bigger audiences that we see at NatWest T20 Blast matches.

“We obviously remain very committed to our Warwickshire CCC bear and ragged staff county crest for First Class and List A cricket and, with a new brand unveiled for Edgbaston Stadium last week, we now have consistency across three parts of our cricket offering.”

Warwickshire CCC took the decision to be renamed as Birmingham Bears for all T20 cricket ahead of the 2014 season, with the team subsequently winning a first NatWest T20 Blast title at the home ground of Edgbaston later that summer.

Captained by England star Ian Bell, Birmingham Bears start their 2016 campaign away to Notts Outlaws on Friday 20 May before returning to Edgbaston for the West Midlands Derby against local rivals Worcestershire Rapids on Friday 27 May.

Birmingham Bears fans can save £4 on Adult tickets (at £15) if purchasing before midnight on Sunday 17 April. Tickets are then available at the advance price of £19 and then £23 on the day of the match.
