Bowler Craig Miles has stressed his delight at extending his Bears say.

The 28-year-old, who had one-year left on his previous deal, put pen to paper on a new contract that will run until the end of the 2025 season late last month.

“It’s starting to feel like home here in Birmingham and Warwickshire,” Miles said. “It’s always a tricky situation to be in your last year and there is a little bit of apprehensive about that, so to have that security and that faith and backing from the Club is fantastic.

“It’s a huge honour to play here and it’s great to have that faith. I’m really excited to extend my stay and hopefully secure more silverware in those next three years.”

The right-arm paceman shone during the Bears 2021 double-winning red ball season, while this year, Miles’ white ball skills were rewarded with a call-up for the Northern Supercharges in The Hundred following a senior role in the attack, which saw Miles take a career-best 20 wickets.

A vital cog in all three formats, Miles has grown into a senior figure within the bowling group, having joined from Gloucestershire in 2018.

“Over the last few weeks have been talking and I suppose it has come off the back of quite a successful summer in white ball,” Miles added.

“Ideally, my red ball would have gone a bit better, but over the last couple of years I feel like my game has expanded to play in all three formats. I’ve got to the age now where we can become a more senior bowler along with a couple of other guys and help pave the way for a few young lads as well.

“In the 2021 season, that last day of the Championship was fantastic to be out there and this year I was watching intensely from inside the pavilion watching Liam do his stuff. It’s just a great place to play cricket.”
